Ira F. Stanphill

On February 14, 1914, Ira F. Stanphill was born in Bellview, New Mexico. He took his college work at Junior College in Coffeyville, Kansas. With only one year of piano instruction at an early age, his musical ability made him proficient in piano, organ, ukelele and the accordion.  He began composing at the age of seventeen and started his career as a singer. When Twenty-two, Rev. Stanphill was called to preach. As a singing evangelist, he has preached all over the country and in forty other nations.  He has written over 400 songs, many of them in public from titles suggested by his audience. “Mansion Over The Hilltop” has been printed over two million times and over one million copies have been printed of “Room At The Cross”.  His songs have been published in several foreign languages.  His five most popular songs are: “Suppertime”, “Mansion Over The Hilltop”, “Room At The Cross”, “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow”, and “Follow Me”.
