P.J. “Pat” Zondervan

He was born April 2, 1909 in Patterson, N.J. He was co-founder and Chairman of the Board of the Zondervan Corporation, which is one of the world’s largest gospel publishers. He has held every elected office and traveled seventy countries in connection with Gideon International. He is listed in “Who’s Who of America”, “Who’s Who in Banking” and “World’s Who’s Who in Commerce and Industry”. He is declared one of the 2,000 men of “Men of Achievement in Banking” and is listed in the”National Register of Prominent Americans and International Notables”. He has been presented two honorary doctorate degrees – Doctor of Literature at John Brown University, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and Doctor of Letters, Lee College, Cleveland, Tennessee. On May 4, 1973, he received a proclamation of “P.J. Zondervan Day” in Michigan for 50 years in the field of communications. P.J. Zondervan died May 6, 1993.
